Death

Animated GIF, 2019

What it's about

Brief Concept

This was my first ever moving image. It tells the true story of a pigeon that died in front of me in a car crash. I was walking down the street when I suddenly heard a bang and saw what looked like a ball of feathers explode. I didn’t understand what had happened at first, then I saw the pigeon lying on the road.

After that I had this feeling of sadness which I wanted to narrate.
The animation captures that moment exactly as it occurred without any symbolism or metaphor. I wanted to tell a story simply as it was, but in doing so, it became a very reflective act for me.

How I made it

Methods/Tech

As a frame-by-frame digital animation in GIF format, using black-and-white collage techniques in Adobe Photoshop. The animation was made with very minimal technical tools and skills. The movement is minimal giving it a kind of “cut” distorted motion that contrasts.

The animation has no sound, not even the crash because the video was created to restore memory. When we remember something and focus deeply on a single moment, sound often disappears and only the images remain

Why it matters to me

what did I explore?

This project was important because it taught me how time-based media can hold emotion without needing explanation.

I learned that motion itself can be expressive that telling a story as it truly happened could become something poetic through the act of observation and retelling. Sometimes, a work of art doesn’t need metaphor or symbolism it simply captures an event as it happens, and in doing so, it becomes a metaphor in itself. The real moment already contains so much depth.

The work was awarded 2nd Place at the Depict! British Short Film Festival, shown as part of the Tbilisi International Film Festival, which gave me the confidence to continue working in this direction.

Words

Short film, 2023

What it's about

Brief Concept

The project “Words” addresses the social taboo around mental health in Georgia. It explores how psychological states like shame, anxiety, obsession, and nervousness originate as words and how words can shape reality. The key message is that by changing the words, we can begin to change the emotional states associated with them.

The title and concept were inspired by the biblical phrase:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God.”
This line prompted me to think of fear, obsession, anxiety, and nervousness first as words, and then as states we embody. If we alter the language, we can shift the experience.

How I made it

Methods/Tech

The film was created in just two days for the competition.

It was shot entirely on a mobile phone, in a simple set I built in my room using an old black curtain to create a neutral, minimal background.

I asked each participant to think of a difficult time in their life and look directly into the camera while holding that emotion.

The film was then edited by me in Adobe Premiere Pro.

The soundtrack is “Truth” by Kamasi Washington, chosen for its emotional build.

I collaborated with a copywriter on the script and structure.

Why it matters to me

what did i explore?

I explored the power of language and minimal aesthetics to provoke emotional response. The process taught me with idea a simple tools like a mobile phone you could reach the audience.

What moved me most was the courage of the people in front of the camera. They looked into the lens, vulnerable but strong, and I realized: words remain just words unless we allow them to define us.

This short film was created for Cannes Lions Georgia 2023, where it was selected among the Top 10 films.

Memory sanctuary aka TV

Short film, 2025

What it's about

Brief Concept

Memory Sanctuary aka TV is an experimental video collage that explores the relationship between childhood memory, personal adult experience and the subconscious mind. Old televisions act as metaphors for the human brain each screen representing fragmented memories, emotional states.

The row of TVs became the Time Machine with fragments from present past and the future.

How memories and experiences shape us. It is like avast ocean of images and and actions.

How I made it

Methods/Tech

The visual structure of this work is built on found footage, analog textures, and multiple television screens, which I composed in Photoshop. I edited in premier so that these fragments in a way that expresses specific emotional states.

I used the Sufi whirling dance as a symbol of spiritual motion an escape from memories and experiences, and a quest for inner unity.

The sound design was created in collaboration with my friend Isara. The music adds a sense of endurance and depth, intensifying the reflection of one's own mind like looking into a personal television of consciousness. It helps the viewer enter a meditative state and reflect on their own memory sanctuary—the emotional layers buried within.

Why it matters to me

what did i explore?

Memory Sanctuary aka TV is a deeply personal exploration of how memories and experiences especially those rooted in childhood continue to shape us. In this work, old televisions become metaphors for the human brain each screen represents fragments of feeling, perception, and time. The row of TVs functions like a time machine, layering moments from the past, present, and future.

This piece matters to me because we are made of these screens. The Sufi whirling dance represents my desire for spiritual transcendence, a form of release from the overwhelming archive of memory. The sound, helps the viewer to entering their own personal sanctuary of memory.

Yet, the work remains unfinished. What exists now is more like a sketch a conceptual and emotional foundation for a larger, more immersive piece. I want to eventually replace found footage with scenes I shoot myself, to make the work even more natural and personal. It’s a starting point for something deeper.

Social D(ist)ancing

Collage Animation, 2021

What it's about

Brief Concept

Social/Love Distancing is a short collage animation created during the COVID-19 pandemic that explores how love and relationships have changed in times of isolation. When physical proximity became impossible, the film humorously and poetically poses the question: Can you truly love someone through a screen? Using playful collage images, the animation captures the awkward, tender, and often absurd nature of digital romance.

The movie reflect the beauty and strangeness of love at a distance.

How I made it

Methods/Tech

The video was created using collage animation techniques. First I created the collages in photoshop and then animate it in After Effects.

Why it matters to me

what did i explore?

reated during the height of global isolation, it captures a universal yet intimate experience the yearning for closeness in a time of enforced separation. Through this project, I explored themes of digital romance, emotional absence, and the tension between physicality and virtuality. It became a poetic attempt to preserve moments of connection that were at once real and intangible.

Digital Loneliness

Illustrations, 2025

The project I'm currently developing in the conceptual phase examines structural parallels between computer systems and the human brain. Both function through complex, multi-layered decision-making processes.

If computers are modeled on human thought, can they also reflect emotional or existential states? What happens when a computer remains unused? Does such a thing as "digital loneliness" exist? For me, this concept is an artistic metaphor that raises questions of identity, consciousness, and relevance in a technologically driven world. I envision the project as an interactive video that engages the audience not just as viewers, but as part of a reflective system.
